Drugs, both illegal and so-called ‘legal highs’, have massive effects on your body. They have effects on your brain, altering what you can sense, they can raise your blood pressure, increase your heart rate or even give you an irregular heartbeat.

 

Drugs that can put strain on your heart, leading to possible heart attacks and strokes are:

  • LSD (acid, blotter, liquid acid, micro dot, smilies, tabs, trips)
  • Cocaine (coke, charlier, crack, snow, blow, spanky, bingodust, marching powder, bongo, devils dandruff, nose bomb)
  • Amphetamines (speed, fet, base, billy whizz)
  • Ketamine (Special K, K, Ket)
  • Crystal meth (Ice, glass, Chrstine, Tina)
  • Mephedrone (Jmeow meow, miaow miaow, MCAT, meph)
  • Cannabis (hash, weed, grass, skunk, marijuana, dope, puff, ganja, pot, joint, reefer, kazoo, blunt, zoot)

 

Drugs that put strain on your breathing and can stop your heart:

GHB (GBH, liquid ectasy)

Heroin (Brown, skag, smack, gear, H)

Poppers (amyl nitrate, butyl nitrate, ram, thrust, liquid gold)

 

Drugs that can cause pulmonary oedema:

  • Amphetamines
  • Heroin

 

Drugs that can cause Endocarditis:

  • Amphetamines
  • Heroin
  • Cocaine

 

Drugs that can cause sudden death, first time use can kill:

  •  Sniffing solvents such as glue
  • Cannabis when mixed with tobacco and then smoked.

Drugs, both illegal and “legal highs” can have many different effects on your body, just because some are not illegal does not make them safe.
