Earlier this week Sarah Quinlan and Chair of Children’s Heartbeat Trust Professor Nichola Rooney met the Heath Minister Simon Hamilton MLA. The charity highlighted a range of issues including timelines for a future Children’s Heart Centre in Belfast, the implementation of the All-Island Children’s Cardiac Network and waiting lists.
The Minister undertook to further explore funding for the Centre, to continue work with Southern colleagues to ensure effective and timely implementation of the network in coming years as well as ways to reduce the unacceptable waiting lists.
We will continue to represent our heart children and families and bring these important issues to the attention of the Health Minister and other relevant parties in our ongoing aim to improve children’s heart services in Northern Ireland.
