Paediatric First Aid

Our First Aid courses run throughout the year, arming parents, carers and young people living with heart disease with the knowledge and experience to administer first aid with confidence.

Heart families often tell us how having a child with a heart condition has made them want to learn and improve their First Aid skills.

Learning and knowledge of First Aid skills can make the difference if an accident or emergency situation arises and we are delighted to now offer heart families access to 12 short online video’s setting out the basics in paediatric first aid.

These videos can help you and your family learn vital first aid skills at home and because they are available online you can access them at your own time and review whenever you need to.

These video’s won’t replace the understanding or knowledge you can gain on an accredited first aid course (which we also offer for heart families) but are a great way to familiarise yourself with the basics and improve your confidence whether at home or in the community.

Thanks to The National Lottery for supporting us in delivering this project for heart families in Northern Ireland.

Depending on interest from local heart families, we can organise one Peadiatric First Aid course per year through Rescue Emergency Care. Our courses are fully certified for three years and are open to local parents and carers of a child with CHD and young people living with heart disease aged 16 and over. Completion of the course aims to arm you with the knowledge and confidence to administer first aid to a child should you ever need to.

“Providing parents with first aid training has been invaluable and eased anxieties over being in a situation where this would be necessary.” – Heart Parent
