Matthew Devine’s first birthday helps other babies with heart disease in NI

November 10th, 2011

Little Matthew and mum Hayley

Little Matthew Devine celebrated his 1st birthday in style when he decided that instead of gifts he would like to make a donation to the Children’s Heartbeat Trust. On top of this his big sister’s school Gaelscoil Ui Dhochartaigh organised a coffee morning in support of the charity.

Matthew underwent open heart surgery to repair an AV Septal Defect in August of this year and all his friends and family raised the money as a thankyou to all the wonderful staff at Clark Clinic.

Matthew’s mum, Hayley, wishes to thank Dr Sands, staff at Clark Clinic and all their family and friends who supported them. She also would like to thank the Tuesday Club lades, Aura wellbeing and beauty, Tammy Hairdressing, Memory Candles and Lisa Duffy at Envy Hairdressing, with a special thanks to Maire Ni Dhochartaigh (Principal), staff, pupils and parents of Gaelscoil Ui Dhochartaigh for their involvement & support.

The Taylor family from Bangor raised funds with a fantastic Bed Push around Newtownards and then still had the energy to keep going with a Charity Night out in their local social club!

Well done Robert and Karen and all their friends and family who helped and supported them. Thank you all very much!!

Frankie John McQue Memorial Football Match; 12 Nov at 12 noon; St Columb’s Park, Derry

November 4th, 2011

strong>Frankie John McQue Memorial Football Match; 12 Nov at 12 noon; St Columb’s Park, Derry

Frankie McQue was born on the 23rd of October 2009 and sadly passed away on the 16th of November 2009 having bravely fought a congenital heart condition. Leanne and Paul McQue are ever grateful for the Children’s Heartbeat Trust for their wonderful support during our stay in hospital with our son and this game and day is in honour of Frankie and all of those who cared for him. We are incredibly proud of our son and he is with us each day in spirit.

Paul McQue, Frankie’s father is holding this years annual memorial charity match with the help of friends, family and local businesses in Derry and all donations will go to the charity. Last years game raised over £500 and this year we hope to double that amount. The game itself is taken quite seriously and there are a few frustrated superstars in and amongst the line ups. We look forward to a good match this year played in the full spirit that it is meant. Leanne and I wish to particularly thank Declan and Shane the team managers and all the players for giving this day the energy that it so deserves.

Look forward to next Saturday!
